What's New

A look at the latest changes and improvements in the Jannah app.

v2.2.1

October 5, 2026
  • 📖 My Qur'an — a new tab with your all-time reading and listening stats, plus recitation downloads for listening offline (Premium)
  • 📖 One-tap reading mode — switch quickly between the ayah list, the mushaf page, and ayah-by-ayah reading
  • 📖 Your place is kept across every reading mode — move from the list to the page or to ayah-by-ayah and you carry on from the same ayah
  • 🕌 Vaktija of the Islamic Community of BiH — fixed the one-hour shift on the day the clocks change
  • 🔍 Halal Scanner — gelatine is now judged by its declared source, and ingredients are recognised in Bosnian and 14 more languages
  • 🔔 Morning, evening and daily dhikr — the reminders now arrive every day
  • 🔍 City search — faster and steadier
  • 🐞 Fixed several crashes and translations that were not showing up

My Qur'an

A new tab in the Qur'an that keeps all your reading and listening in one place — your day streak, the ayahs and pages you have read, total time, rewards counted by letters, and how many ayahs you have memorised. Downloads live here too: save your reciter and listen with no connection, wherever you are. Downloads are part of Premium.

One-tap reading mode

The ayah list, the mushaf page and ayah-by-ayah reading are now one tap apart, from a dropdown inside the reader itself. Your place travels with you: change the mode and you carry on from the same ayah, and the ayahs, pages and letters you read are counted in every mode.

Vaktija of the Islamic Community of BiH on clock-change day

On the last Sunday of October and March, when the clocks change, the Islamic Community of BiH timetable now shows the correct times from the morning onwards. Previously every time could be a full hour out on that one day, so the adhan arrived at the wrong moment.

The Halal Scanner now reads where gelatine comes from

Gelatine of pork origin is now clearly marked haram. Gelatine of animal origin is marked doubtful, with the reason spelled out: for it to be halal the animal must be slaughtered by a Muslim in the name of Allah, and an ingredient list can never confirm that. The scanner now reads ingredients in Bosnian too, not only English.

v2.1.9

September 2, 2026
  • 🕌 Prayer Times Widget — fully redesigned, in three sizes plus a lock-screen widget (Premium)
  • 🔔 Adhan sound in notifications — per prayer, pick a full adhan, a classic chime, or silent, with preview
  • 📖 Tajweed in the Quran — verses are now coloured by tajweed rules, in both the aya-by-aya view and the new page view; you can turn the colours off anytime
  • 📖 Page-by-page reading — a brand-new mushaf-style way to read the Quran, with or without tajweed
  • 🔍 Halal Scanner — scan a barcode and instantly see whether a product is halal, haram, or doubtful, with an ingredient-by-ingredient breakdown
  • ❓ Quiz — new question categories added

Tajweed and page-by-page reading

The Quran now has tajweed colouring — every recitation rule has its own colour, both in the familiar aya-by-aya view and in a brand-new page view where the Quran turns page by page, just like a printed mushaf. You can switch the tajweed colours on or off in the reading settings, so you read a page with them or in a clean, classic layout.

Prayer Times Widget — now for Premium

Pin Jannah to your home or lock screen and keep prayer times in view at all times, with a live countdown to the next prayer. It comes in three home-screen sizes plus a dedicated lock-screen widget. The widget is part of Premium — free users can preview it before upgrading.

Small widget: next prayer and countdown
Medium widget: all of today's prayer times
Large widget: full prayer schedule for today

Sound notifications for prayer times

For each prayer you now choose how the app notifies you — the full adhan, a classic chime, or silent. Pick from several adhans (Classic adhan, Rashid Mishary Alafasy, Madinah adhan…) and preview them before you choose.

Halal Scanner

Scan any product's barcode and within seconds see whether it's halal, haram, or doubtful. The scanner breaks down every ingredient and flags the ones of uncertain origin, such as E-numbers and additives.
