Evening Dhikr — Arabic, transliteration and translation
September 2, 2026
Just as the day begins with dhikr, it ends with it too. The evening adhkar are a protection through the night — the time when a person most feels their own weakness and need for Allah.
This set is almost identical to the morning dhikr, only with wording that fits the evening (“we have reached the evening” instead of “the morning”, “this night” instead of “this day”).
When to say it
The time for the evening dhikr is from ʿAsr until sunset. Some scholars extend it until ʿIshaʾ. If you miss it, say it as soon as you remember.
How
Without rushing, with understanding. In the Jannah app every dhikr has a tap counter and a sound cue at the end — open the evening dhikr.
Below is the full set: Arabic, transliteration (Bosnian phonetics — š = sh, dž = j, ‘ = ʿayn) and translation.
1. Ayat al-Kursi
Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-ḥayyul-qayyūm. Lā ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm. Lahu mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ. Man dhal-ladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi idhnih. Yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi shay'in min ʿilmihi illā bimā shā'. Wasiʿa kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-arḍ. Wa lā ya'ūduhu ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwal-ʿaliyyul-ʿaẓīm.
Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
2. Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas
Recite the three short surahs — Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad, Qul aʿūdhu bi Rabbil-falaq and Qul aʿūdhu bi Rabbin-nās.
3. “We have reached the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah…”
Amsaynā wa amsal-mulku lillāh, wal-ḥamdu lillāh, lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay'in qadīr. Rabbi as'aluka khayra mā fī hādhihil-laylati wa khayra mā baʿdahā, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhihil-laylati wa sharri mā baʿdahā. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika minal-kasali wa sū'il-kibar. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābin fin-nāri wa ʿadhābin fil-qabr.
We have reached the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah; all praise is due to Allah; there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner — to Him belongs the dominion and the praise, and He has power over all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what comes after it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the misery of old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.
4. “O Allah, by You we have reached the evening…”
Allāhumma bika amsaynā wa bika aṣbaḥnā wa bika naḥyā wa bika namūtu wa ilaykal-maṣīr.
O Allah, by You we have reached the evening and by You we have reached the morning, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the destination.
5. Sayyid al-Istighfar — the master of seeking forgiveness
Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā anta, khalaqtanī wa anā ʿabduk, wa anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika mastaṭaʿtu, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿtu, abū'u laka bi niʿmatika ʿalayya, wa abū'u bi dhanbī faghfir lī fa innahu lā yaghfirudh-dhunūba illā anta.
O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant; I keep Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
6. “O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen…”
Allāhumma ʿālimal-ghaybi wash-shahādati, fāṭiras-samāwāti wal-arḍ, rabba kulli shay'in wa malīkah, ash-hadu an lā ilāha illā anta, aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī, wa min sharrish-shayṭāni wa shirkih, wa an aqtarifa ʿalā nafsī sū'an aw ajurrahu ilā muslim.
O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of everything: I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul, from the evil of Satan and his call to shirk, and from bringing evil upon myself or dragging it onto a Muslim.
7. “O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being…”
Allāhumma innī as'alukal-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyata fid-dunyā wal-ākhirah. Allāhumma innī as'alukal-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyata fī dīnī wa dunyāya wa ahlī wa mālī. Allāhummastur ʿawrātī wa āmin rawʿātī. Allāhummaḥfaẓnī min bayni yadayya wa min khalfī wa ʿan yamīnī wa ʿan shimālī wa min fawqī, wa aʿūdhu bi ʿaẓamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī.
O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, guard me from in front of me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me; and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being taken unaware from beneath me.
8. “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah…”
Aʿūdhu bi kalimātillāhit-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
9. “In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can harm…”
Bismillāhilladhī lā yaḍurru maʿasmihi shay'un fil-arḍi wa lā fis-samā', wa huwas-samīʿul-ʿalīm.
In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm — and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
10. “I am pleased with Allah as my Lord…”
Raḍītu billāhi rabbā, wa bil-islāmi dīnā, wa bi Muḥammadin ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallama nabiyyā.
I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad ﷺ as my Prophet.
11. “Allah is sufficient for me…”
Ḥasbiyallāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿalayhi tawakkaltu, wa huwa rabbul-ʿarshil-ʿaẓīm.
Allah is sufficient for me — there is no god but Him; upon Him I rely, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
12. “Glory and praise be to Allah — as much as the number of His creation…”
Subḥānallāhi wa bi ḥamdih, ʿadada khalqih, wa riḍā nafsih, wa zinata ʿarshih, wa midāda kalimātih.
Glory and praise be to Allah — as much as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, as much as the weight of His Throne, and as much as the ink of His words.
13. “Glory and praise be to Allah”
Subḥānallāhi wa bi ḥamdih.
Glory and praise be to Allah.
