Morning Dhikr — Arabic, transliteration and translation

The morning and evening adhkar are the believer’s fortress — a protection the Prophet ﷺ never began or ended the day without. A few minutes in the morning, with a present heart, carry a person through the whole day.

When to say it

The time for the morning dhikr is from dawn until sunrise. Best of all is right after the Fajr prayer. If you miss it, most scholars allow it to be said up until midday.

The evening dhikr is said from ʿAsr until sunset (or until ʿIshaʾ).

How

Don’t rush. The goal isn’t to “get it done” but to understand what you’re saying. In the Jannah app every dhikr has a tap counter and a sound cue at the end, so you don’t have to count in your head — open the morning dhikr.

Below is the full set: Arabic, transliteration (Bosnian phonetics — š = sh, dž = j, ‘ = ʿayn) and translation.

1. Ayat al-Kursi

Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-ḥayyul-qayyūm. Lā ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm. Lahu mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ. Man dhal-ladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi idhnih. Wasiʿa kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-arḍ. Wa lā ya'ūduhu ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwal-ʿaliyyul-ʿaẓīm.

Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Say once · Qur'an, al-Baqarah 255. Whoever says it in the morning is under Allah's protection until evening.

2. Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas

Recite the three short surahs — Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad, Qul aʿūdhu bi Rabbil-falaq and Qul aʿūdhu bi Rabbin-nās.

Recite each surah 3× · Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi. "They will suffice you against everything."

3. “We have reached the morning and the dominion belongs to Allah…”

Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥal-mulku lillāh, wal-ḥamdu lillāh, lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay'in qadīr. Rabbi as'aluka khayra mā fī hādhal-yawmi wa khayra mā baʿdah, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhal-yawmi wa sharri mā baʿdah. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika minal-kasali wa sū'il-kibar. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābin fin-nāri wa ʿadhābin fil-qabr.

We have reached the morning and the dominion belongs to Allah; all praise is due to Allah; there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner — to Him belongs the dominion and the praise, and He has power over all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what comes after it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the misery of old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.

Say once · Muslim. In the evening say: "Amsaynā wa amsal-mulku lillāh…"

4. “O Allah, by You we have reached the morning…”

Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā wa bika amsaynā wa bika naḥyā wa bika namūtu wa ilaykan-nushūr.

O Allah, by You we have reached the morning and by You we have reached the evening, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the resurrection.

Say once · Tirmidhi. In the evening: "…wa ilaykal-maṣīr" (and to You is the destination).

5. Sayyid al-Istighfar — the master of seeking forgiveness

Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā anta, khalaqtanī wa anā ʿabduk, wa anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika mastaṭaʿtu, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿtu, abū'u laka bi niʿmatika ʿalayya, wa abū'u bi dhanbī faghfir lī fa innahu lā yaghfirudh-dhunūba illā anta.

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant; I keep Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Say once · Bukhari. "Whoever says it in the morning with certainty and dies that day will enter Paradise."

6. “O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen…”

Allāhumma ʿālimal-ghaybi wash-shahādati, fāṭiras-samāwāti wal-arḍ, rabba kulli shay'in wa malīkah, ash-hadu an lā ilāha illā anta, aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī, wa min sharrish-shayṭāni wa shirkih, wa an aqtarifa ʿalā nafsī sū'an aw ajurrahu ilā muslim.

O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of everything: I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul, from the evil of Satan and his call to shirk, and from bringing evil upon myself or dragging it onto a Muslim.

Say once · Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud.

7. “O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being…”

Allāhumma innī as'alukal-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyata fid-dunyā wal-ākhirah. Allāhumma innī as'alukal-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyata fī dīnī wa dunyāya wa ahlī wa mālī. Allāhummastur ʿawrātī wa āmin rawʿātī. Allāhummaḥfaẓnī min bayni yadayya wa min khalfī wa ʿan yamīnī wa ʿan shimālī wa min fawqī, wa aʿūdhu bi ʿaẓamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī.

O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, guard me from in front of me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me; and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being taken unaware from beneath me.

Say once · Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Ahmad.
